Calling all emotional rescue dogs, family pets and four-legged best friends… We’ve found a happy place for you – the Nails & Tails Package at The Lygon Arms, Cotswolds.

The deal: Your human goes to the spa and gym to enjoy an hour’s treatment session, while you hang out at Broadway Dog Groomer in town. Here, you will have a body groom and clipped nails. Up next is a canine blueberry facial, followed by paw and nose balm and a choice of perfume – Jimmy Chow or Jean Paw Gaultier. After your morning or afternoon away, the Groomers take you back to the hotel to spend the rest of your day together with your human. Your party favour is a bow or bandanna.

The hotel:
Location: In the middle of Broadway Village, the hotel is in a 14th-century coaching inn. There are rooms in both the main house and spacious courtyard suites with their own terraced gardens. The first have high ceilings and rickety stairs; the courtyard suites are more modern. The look is country-core. Woolies and wellies welcome.

The food & drink: Traditional English in the restaurant. Lamb and beef from a local farm. Dishes include wood pigeon, smoked salmon. The wine bar has a Mediterranean vibe; the Bar and Grill offers seasonal British at its best. Take tea by the log fires.
